Krishi Yantra Subsidy 2026: State-Wise Guide for Farmers
Farm machines are expensive, and most farmers pay far more than they need to because they never claim the Krishi Yantra subsidy they already qualify for. The government pays 40 to 80 percent of the cost of tractors, power weeders, sprayers, threshers and dozens of other implements. This guide explains the Krishi Yantra subsidy in plain terms: how much you can get, who is eligible, and exactly how to apply in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
What is the Krishi Yantra subsidy?
Krishi Yantra subsidy is financial help from the government to buy farm equipment at a lower price. Most of this money comes through a central scheme called the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), run by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Each state runs its own portal to hand out the money, which is why the process looks a little different from one state to the next.
The subsidy is paid as DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). You buy the machine, upload the bill, and the subsidy amount lands in your bank account after verification. The machine is yours, and you pay only your share.
How much Krishi Yantra subsidy can you get?
The amount depends on the machine and on who you are. Farmers from priority groups get a bigger share.
| Farmer category | Typical subsidy share |
|---|---|
| General farmers | 40 to 50 percent |
| SC / ST farmers | 50 to 80 percent |
| Women farmers | 50 percent and above (priority) |
| Small and marginal farmers | 50 percent and above |
Every machine also has a cost ceiling, so the subsidy is a percentage up to a fixed maximum. A small power weeder has a lower ceiling than a tractor. To see a rough figure for the machine you want, use our Krishi Yantra subsidy checker, then plan the rest with the farm machinery EMI calculator.
Who is eligible for the subsidy?
- You are a citizen of India and own farmland in your name.
- Individual farmers, with priority for small, marginal, SC, ST and women farmers.
- Self Help Groups, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), cooperative societies and registered user groups.
- You have a bank account linked to Aadhaar for the DBT payment.
- You have not already taken a subsidy on the same machine in the last few years (the gap is set by each state).
Which machines are covered?
SMAM covers most field and post-harvest equipment. Commonly subsidised machines include:
- Tractors and power weeders
- Rotavators, cultivators and power weeder attachments
- Power sprayers, battery sprayers and HTP sprayers
- Threshers, reapers, chaff cutters and mini rice mills
- Seed drills, planters and laser land levellers

Krishi Yantra subsidy: how to apply state by state
Each state uses its own portal. Find yours below. If your state is not listed, start at the national farm machinery portal, agrimachinery.nic.in, which links to every state scheme.
| State | Official portal | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Uttar Pradesh | upagriculture.com | Register, book a token, then buy from an approved dealer |
| Gujarat | ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in | Apply on iKhedut during the open window |
| Madhya Pradesh | dbt.mpdage.org | Apply online, selection is by lottery (draw) |
| Rajasthan | rajkisan.rajasthan.gov.in | Apply through your SSO ID on Raj Kisan |
Uttar Pradesh (UP Krishi Yantra)
Register on the UP agriculture portal at upagriculture.com with your details and land records. Book a token for the machine you want, buy it from a registered dealer, and upload the bill. In UP, booking early matters because tokens for popular machines run out fast.
Gujarat (iKhedut)
Gujarat runs its subsidy through the iKhedut portal. Applications open in windows through the year, so check the site for the current date. Apply online, get approval (purvo-sanmati), buy the machine, and submit the bill for the DBT payment.
Madhya Pradesh (e-Krishi Yantra Anudan)
MP uses the e-Krishi Yantra Anudan portal. Demand is high, so MP selects beneficiaries by a computer lottery. Apply during the open window with your documents and a small deposit (dharohar rashi), and wait for the draw result before you buy.
Rajasthan (Raj Kisan)
Rajasthan farmers apply through their SSO ID on the Raj Kisan portal. General farmers get about 40 percent and SC, ST, small, marginal and women farmers about 50 percent. Apply, get the approval, buy from an approved source, and claim the DBT.
Documents you need
- Aadhaar card
- Land records (khatauni / 7-12 / khasra, as your state asks)
- Bank passbook linked to Aadhaar
- Caste certificate (for SC / ST benefit)
- Passport-size photo and mobile number
- The machine's bill and its serial number, at the claim stage
Step by step: claiming the subsidy
- Register on your state portal with Aadhaar and land records.
- Apply for the machine you want and get the approval or token before buying.
- Buy from a registered dealer and keep the original bill.
- Upload the bill and machine details on the portal.
- An officer verifies the machine, often with a physical check.
- The subsidy is paid into your bank account by DBT.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying the machine before you have the approval or token. Many states reject bills dated before approval.
- Using a bank account that is not linked to Aadhaar, which stops the DBT.
- Missing the application window, especially in Gujarat and MP.
- Buying from an unregistered seller, so the bill is not accepted.
- Wrong or blurred documents, which send the file back for correction.

Frequently asked questions
How much subsidy is given on Krishi Yantra?
Between 40 and 80 percent of the machine cost, up to a fixed ceiling for each machine. General farmers usually get 40 to 50 percent, while SC, ST, women, small and marginal farmers get 50 percent or more.
How do I apply for Krishi Yantra subsidy in UP?
Register at upagriculture.com, book a token for your machine, buy it from a registered dealer, and upload the bill. The subsidy is paid to your bank account by DBT after verification.
Is there a subsidy on power weeders?
Yes. Power weeders are covered under SMAM like other farm machines, so you can claim 40 to 80 percent depending on your category and state. Use the subsidy checker for a rough figure.
Do I buy the machine first or apply first?
Apply first and wait for the approval or token. In most states a bill dated before approval is rejected, so never buy before you have the go-ahead.
Which bank account should I use?
Use a bank account linked to your Aadhaar. The subsidy is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer, and an unlinked account will block the payment.
How long does the subsidy take to come?
It varies by state and by how busy the office is. After the machine is verified, the DBT usually reaches your account within a few weeks to a couple of months.
Can I get the subsidy every year?
No. There is a gap rule for the same machine, set by each state. You can claim for different machine types, but not the same one again within the set period.
Subsidy rates, ceilings and deadlines change every year and differ by state and machine. Always confirm the current details on your state's official portal before you apply.
